In short
Wayfaring turns the travel posts you save into places and trip plans. To do that we keep your account, the places and trips you make, and the posts you share with us. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and you can delete everything from the app at any time.
What we collect
- Account: your email address (or the name and email your Apple or Google account shares with us), the name you choose, and a profile photo if you add one.
- What you create: places you save, collections, trips, days and stops, bookings, budgets, notes, ratings and reviews, and your travel preferences (pace, when your days start, who you travel with, how you get around, where your travel ideas live, what you like).
- How you heard about Wayfaring, if you choose to tell us after subscribing.
- What you share with us: the links, captions, text and screenshots you send to the app so we can find the places in them.
- Subscription: whether you have an active subscription and when it renews or ends. Payment details are handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card.
- We don't collect your precise location in the background, your contacts, or advertising identifiers.
How we use it
- To run the app: find places in posts, plan your days, show opening hours and travel times, sync your trips across devices and share them with people you invite.
- To learn how you like to travel (your Travel DNA), only from what you save, rate and skip in the app. You can see what it learned and remove any of it.
- To keep the service safe and working, for example limits on how many posts can be added a day.
- How you heard about us, only counted together with everyone else's, to see which channels bring people who find the app useful. It's never shared or used for advertising.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), hosted in the EU.
- Google: Gemini reads the text of posts you share to find place names; Google Maps Platform finds the places, their opening hours, photos and travel times.
- Apple and Google (and RevenueCat, which we use to manage subscriptions) for purchases.
- Each processes only what it needs for that job, under its own terms and data protection commitments.
Who can see your things
Only you, unless you invite someone to a trip: then the people on that trip see the trip, its places, bookings and budget, and your name and photo.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it or your account. Posts we couldn't read are removed after 30 days. Backups are kept for a short period and then overwritten.
Your choices
- Edit or delete anything you've added, at any time.
- Delete your account in You → Account → Delete account. This removes your profile, photo, places, collections, trips and reviews for good. A subscription is cancelled in your App Store or Google Play settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or anything else about it, at wayfaring@felixkariuki.com.
Children
Wayfaring isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it applies.
